Money talks.

Golden, Co. May 25 - PAGE ONE -- Month Five (2010 C.E.), U.S.A.  Only two volunteers met at the Golden Library: a Treasurer's obligation. Mike and Bud briefly discussed financial topics of interest.

Libertarian National Convention, Memorial Day weekend--St. Louis, MO

Golden, Co. April 27 - PAGE ONE -- Month Four (2010 C.E.), U.S.A.  Our Man Dan sparked the Spring with a passionate discourse about some severe discrepancies in the Criminal Justice System.  Also in attendance were our Jeffco principal (principle?) activists, a couple of State movers-and-shakers--#2 (Gallant) , and the new Treasurer (Spalding).  Maria Sallis provided a model perspective for the younger Libertarian--she attends Metro State.

Dr. Bud thinks a radical re-evaluation of the national office is due--including moving out of D.C. (back to Party roots), and intends to pursue that action.

An extended discussion of which activities should be pursued to enlist more voters for the Party elicited a need for a dedicated Jeffco Outreach Director.  Gallant holds that title, but now has duties at the State position in the Party. Be the One to make a difference!

***Dan is sponsoring a Meetup on Monday May 17th at the roundabout entrance to the Taj Haha(l) [Jefferson County building], beginning around 9 a.m.  Supporters of Libertarian aims will be welcome then and there to help Register new voters for our Party.

Libertarian Statewide Convention

Golden, March 21 - PAGE ONE -- Month Three (2010 C.E.), U.S.A.  About 80 interested activists celebrated the Spring Equinox by recognizing individuals to represent the Party in the impending 2010 election contests.  Generally, the meeting was less contentious than previous (recent) enablements.

Of interest to Jeffco supporters was Mike Spalding's agreement to serve as the party's state Treasurer, and the continuation of Steve Gallant's service in the new office of Vice-Chairman.

Our local leader, Dan Sallis ("Kilo") is still a potential candidate for Governor of Colorado--facing a Primary run-off with Jaimes Brown. Jeffco's Agent/Treasurer, "Dr. Bud" Martin was confirmed as candidate for House District 27 (nominally, Arvada).

All of the above were named as Delegates to the National Convention.

John Jay Myers (Dallas) and Wayne Allyn Root (Las Vegas) spoke on behalf of their bids to be Executive Director of the Libertarian Party at the St. Louis meeting in May .

The life-blood of any organization is money.  Please give what you can to our local effort for Liberty.

Libertarian Statewide Convention

The Colorado statewide Libertarian convention is this March 20th, 2010 at the Red Lion Hotel at 3200 S. Parker Road, Aurora, CO 80014.  I encourage all Libertarians in Jefferson County to attend as delegates.  At this convention we will choose several candidates and vote on the business of the state party.  Please visit the state site here to RSVP.  See you all there. Thanks, Dan Kilo.

Golden, February 28 - PAGE ONE -- Month Two (2010 C.E.), U.S.A.  It is all opinion. Everything stated, i.e., spoken or written, is based upon incomplete information. “History is written by the winners,” according to their dictates--usually on the basis of “might makes right.”

History is written by malcontents and dissidents (descriptions assigned by an “in” group). But, change is a universal constant, and its flow cannot be arrested. The aim of Libertarians is to influence change away from the oppressive guidelines of government gone awry, without a tsunami of social distress. If we consider the development of “government” from the earliest human societies, i.e., aboriginals, it is apparent there has been a gradual erosion of individual freedoms by the accession of neighbors to hierarchical imperatives of influence.

The first controllers of social order were elders of a family. Those elders of separate families formed councils to make rules of conduct for the commonweal—the first level of separation from family freedoms by individuals in establishment of modifying controls. Next, groups of families formed tribes, and groups of tribes became nations—each with different interpretations of what should be the role of the individual members. Just as brothers and sisters conflict with elders in their aims, so too have tribes and nations, on a larger scale.

Conflict is another universal constant—the method by which balance is obtained, and order effected. It is observable in the cosmos, and in our bodies. Conflict is the arbiter of change. Government seeks to inhibit change by creating a stasis of standards based on precedence—the way Life was lived. Social rules are devised by distant arbiters who are really disinterested in the impact on individuals.

Mr. Jefferson (for whom our local arena has been named) was an advocate for local standards to define freedoms. “Live, and let live …,” the Libertarian Party policy, could have been his mantra. He was, however, a student of “the Law(s),” and understood chaos is best contained with some standards of reference for appropriate human behavior. In contributing to our now somewhat modified form of government, his thoughts conflicted with old ways of controlling society—as does the thinking of contemporary Libertarians. For those who “Think about it!” that is.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, the thoughts of Mr. Hamilton have impressed the gullible electorate, and the Federalist theories have come to dominate our Brave New World. The collapse of civilization is unlikely in 2012, but it seems a good time for radical removal of incumbent rascals whose personal agendas are reinforced by the rules they make for the rest of us.

A recent popular Sunday morning TV report (in one of its topics) focused on the current crises of government in our country brought about by the failure of the individual citizen to participate in the service aspects of money, the lifeblood of any organization—including governments. Bankers prevail because depositors fail to discipline the servers to acceptable standards. If you want to participate in controlling the controllers, vote with your money.

Golden, January 26 - We have a new leader confirmed--DAN SALLIS, a.k.a Dan Kilo (who is offering a GET OUT OF JAIL, FREE platform). He's running for Governor (of Colorado). He has a competitor for the office, DOUGLAS RANDALL, from Colorado Springs--pushing for the Farm Vote. MACKLYN STRINGER is a Libertarian candidate for the U.S. Senate, also attending at the Golden Library on January 26th. CURTIS HARRIS, on the verge of District 7, will be our Representative for Congress from District 2. STEVE GALLANT is expected to hit the pavement again in search of a seat on the Golden council. Ten interested activists were at the committee meeting.

Gallant will continue service on the Jeffco Affiliate committee as Outreach Director; along with BUD MARTIN, the current Agent/Treasurer.

MIKE SPALDING--recently "burned out" Committeeman--offered a 2010 agenda reminder: Cinco de Mayo; Pridefest; Summer Fest; and support of students at Colorado Mines.

Dan is looking for "line holders" to fill the next ballots. Contact him via email: dk@dankilo.com

The life blood of politics is money. We don't have any. Outreach efforts (our principal expense) require funding.

PAGE ONE -- Month One (2010 C.E.), U.S.A.     It is all opinion. Everything stated, i.e., spoken or written, is based upon incomplete information. “History is written by the winners,” according to their dictates--usually on the basis of “might makes right.”

Generally, we mostly go along with what seems to be a best course of action at the time, serving situational ethics, for it is apparent no one can know everything about anything. Sometimes an effort is made to make the record correct, but most of the time--as in Germany in the early ‘30s--we just “go with the flow.” If a particular action by someone doesn’t directly affect us, we tend to ignore the consequences. One must assume our neighbors understand, “We’re all in this together!” (Whatever this may be, at the time.)
It isn’t necessarily so.
Universal order, whether in the cosmos, or our own bodies, is resolution of conflict, a temporary balance in the flow of existence among many impinging factors.  All cultures are compromises. There are, however, personal limits on what any individual may reasonably expect as a useful condition of participation in Life.  Everyone desires freedom of choice, to interpret events in their own best interests.
Ah, “There’s the rub!” (Shakespeare)  What I believe is best for all of us may not be what you believe is best for you.  But, we have to get along (?), to find some agreement about a fair mutuality in addressing differences of opinion.  But, there are as many opinions as there are members of a particular society, and some of us don‘t consider another‘s relevant to ours. We are, however, interdependent. Even monkeys understand that.
The solution to our differences seems to be discovery of a method of limiting conflict. One popular method has traditionally been “cutting off the head” (literally) of adversaries, eliminating forever an impinging influence on the flow.  That method severely limits any contribution to our benefit those who lose their heads could make for the commonweal.
A better way of resolving differences of opinion may be improving access to information that causes those differences.  Then, of course, a new problem develops--acceptance of data as applicable--to each and all.
We’re back to “might makes right.”
So, some of us get together and appoint one or more of us to sort out our differences of opinion and create guidelines for conduct of interactive common necessities. “But, wait!” (as the TV huckster cries), some others appoint their own representatives, similarly. Those guys have to come up with something that satisfies the need for balance in our individual confrontations.  And we all must then conform (?) to those guidelines--that may not be in our individual best interests (in our developed opinions).
We can get together in our own neighborhood, and appoint another representative to interact with the already established guys who are making irrational decisions about guidelines for all of us that are incompatible with our opinions.
In our society, there are only a few spaces in a hierarchy of government for representatives selected to sort out our differences of opinion and create guidelines for individual conduct.  In order to make space for our particular influence in controlling opinions (and the actions, therefor), we have to chop off a few heads (figuratively) by "voting the rascals out," and "doing it OUR way."

Now’s the time. Think about it. What can you do to preserve your own freedoms, and create a better record?

TEA PARTY!!!

5,000 Freedom Lovers!!!

Libertarian Booth by you.

Two freedom fighters staff the Libertarian booth. We were completely swamped at the end. We registered Libertarian voters, got lots of contact info and gave out nearly every piece of literature we had. The attendees were hungry for info on how to reduce the size of government.

Huge Crowds by you.

Although channel 9 said there were only hundreds, the Denver Police estimated the crowd to be between 5,000 and 6,000 protestors. Channel 7's live reporting video (after a short commercial) can be watched here: http://www.thedenverchannel.com/video/19192346/index.html

Bob Barr is the Presidential Candidate

Wayne Root is our Vice Presidential Candidate

After a nail biting 6 ballots including two exact ties between Bob Barr and Mary Ruwart, the National Libertarian convention choose the team of Barr/Root to be our 2008 candidates. On the 5th ballot Root conceded and threw his support to Bob Barr in exchange for support for the Vice President slot. This last minute manuver overwhelmed the Ruwart supports and won Barr the nomination. It was real excitement with a real contest. As one supporter said "This ain't no Republicrat convention!"

Ron Paul's fight for Freedom continues! We will reach one million potential voters this summer.

Election Results - Gallant takes 20%

This was not the win that we expected. Unfortunately this race became a democrat vs republican 3 way race.

In these dangerous 3 ways, Libertarians usually do 2%. Steve's 20% is an amazing 10 fold improvement.

Hopefully the name recognition that we built up in this race will lead to even better results in a future Golden run.

Thanks to the many volunteers who contributed to another electoral push for freedom.

More Libertarian Voters = More Libertarian Votes

2007 Libertarian Colorado Convention

The annual gathering of Colorado Libertarians was highlighted by technology and personalities. Travis Nicks, Wes Long and the other board members up for re-election were re-elected. Uber-activists Mykl and Clair were honored with awards. And, during the luncheon presentation, previous presidential and senatorial candidate Michael Badnarik emphanized the need for passion in performance. Michael also taught an 8 hour constitution class on Sunday.

The technology included an internet video and voice link to the western slope. This allowed folks in Montrose to avoid a 10 hr round trip drive. Jim Frye and Wes Long did drive the 10 hours to provide the link up equipment and expertise. We also experimented with the Quizdum polling technology. It allowed us to take votes and get quorum counts without tedius counting of paper slips.

The turnout was lighter in past years and the tough work of platform and by-laws modification proceded smoothly. Are these connected?

Liberty Casino Night a Success!

A Night of Fun and Friends

Craps Table at the LP Colorado Casino Night

Casino Night was more than a fundraising success, it was fun for all. Nearly 60 folks gambled, mingled, took advantage of the open bar (staffed by LPBoulder's Kristen Hoyer and her sister) and enjoyed the unusual hors d'oeuvres. The poker table got quite intense and craps had a crowd all night.

The money that was raised will help purchase literature for this summer's outreach booths. And the fun that we had reminded us that we are all in this together. Hopefully we'll see you at the next event!
