The Security Sickness is to the Body Politic like Lupus is to the Human Body.
Lupus is that disease where the body’s immune system overreacts and attacks the body itself. You can’t turn it off. It’s going to protect the body if it has to kill every cell! Of course, while Lupus is paranoid and overreactive, the body is genuinely under outside attack. It’s just that the disproportionate response destroys the host it is meant to save.
But I’m just ranting. Sorry, please ignore me, and prepare to watch your spouse strip for the security people at the airport …
