If you don’t support the war on terror, you are a terrorist.
I am so fed up and angry with this recent campaign supporting the war on terrorism. The Bush supporters like Rumsfeld, Cheney, etc., go on the news and talk shows and say that “of course the war on terror is working. Obviously it’s working because we’ve gone five years without an attack on U.S. soil!”
This is possible the most illogical thing I’ve ever heard in my life. Hey, Cheney! I have news for you! It’s not the war on terror that prevents terrorism, it’s these magic rocks I have in my basement! Each morning I wake up and I rub these rocks, and lo and behold, no terrorist attacks on U.S. soil! What? You say that’s perposterous? Nonsense! Obviously it’s working because we haven’t had a single terrorist attack on U.S. soil for five years! You should buy these magic rocks from me. If you don’t, then you’re pretty much asking for terrorism. In fact, if you don’t buy my magic rocks, you’re probably a terrorist yourself.
What’s more is that their claim is foolproof(meaning that only a fool can’t find the failure in the logic) in that if there is no terrorism, then the war on terrorism is working, but if there is an attack, they will say that it’s working, just not well enough and that it needs more funding! It’s win-win for the Bushists, when in reality the war on terrorism does nothing to prevent terrorism.
Every time you hear of a war on something(rather than someONE), it is safe to assume that that war is a tax hole. Take the war on drugs for example. Billions and billions of dollars of hardworking U.S. citizens are pried out of our hands each year to go towards the war on drugs, as has been the case for decades. As a result of this noble cause, our country is now drug free! Realistically, we will never be able to rid the world or even the country of drugs. This is why the war on drugs is a waste of taxpayer money! Likewise, there will always be terrorism, and it, too, is a waste of money.
Not only does the war on terror(and drugs for that matter) cost a ton of taxpayers’ hard earned money, but it costs us our liberties as well. Wire taps, spying, entrapment, and indefinite incarceration without charges are all grossly unconstitutional, but “necessary to fight terrorism.” Ben Franklin said “Those who would give up a little freedom for a little safety, deserve neither freedom nor safety.” {for the rest of this article link to the original at Brian Burch’s myspace page (scroll down a couple of entries) http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.ListAll&friendID=92221279&MyToken=853421fb-9613-4248-90d9-2ac53c26d502ML

Wire taps to places outside the United States, on known or suspected killers somehow infringes upon our rights as citizens?
Spying for the purpose of protecting Americans is un-Constitutional?
Entrapment? When, where..?
Indefinite incarceration of who? American’s?
As for the drug war you are correct. It is a boon doggel of imense purportions. Forget all the political and social balderdash. If you support the drug war you support making thugs and killers into millionaires. It is as simple as that.
