Opportunities Abound - Office w/o Election

From Sue Windels thanks to Jack Woehr:

Calling all civic-minded people!   Our state has over one hundred boards and commissions and I encourage you to think about applying to serve on one of them.  I’m always telling people that democracy is not a spectator sport, so here’s a great chance to participate.  Some of these positions do require specific expertise, but you might just be the person with that expertise.

To see the entire list, log onto the following website:

http://www.colorado.gov/governor/boards-commissions.html

Once on the website, scroll to near the bottom of the page, next to first lady Jeannie Ritter’s picture, to where it says “The 2007 updates are now available” (highlighted in red) and click on the blue PDF link.   That will bring up the entire list of opportunities available between Jan 1 and Dec. 31st with descriptions.

EXAMPLE:
Here’s an example of one listing:  (Note — the date indicates when a vacancy will occur on the board.  Don’t assume that vacancies from January, February & March have been filled because many have not, leaving the position vacant.   The asterisk by a member’s name indicates that his/her term has expired or will expire in 2007.  )
